It was a warm evening in Lewes Town Hall, with nearly a hundred singers, an orchestra of twenty, and around two hundred people in the audience. Right from the orchestral opening 'Representation of Chaos', followed by Bass Jozik Kotz intoning 'In the beginning...' and the choir's dramatic first chorus, sung from memory, the audience must have known they were in for a treat.
Three exciting soloists (Alexandra Kidgell, Mark Dobell and Jozik Kotz) told the story of the seven days of Creation interspersed with triumphant choruses from the choir, and the evening ended in thunderous applause.
"The East Sussex Community Choir goes from strength to strength," said Director Nick Houghton. "It was strong, confident singing and I'm very proud of what we've achieved."
The concert was possible thanks to sponsorship from our principal sponsors Herbert Scott Financial Planners, as well as The Foundation Stage Forum, Harvey's Brewery and Marston Barrett Jewellers. We were also very fortunate to receive a grant from Lewes Town Council.
